Important notice / Belangrike kennisgewing:
1. The official academic welcoming programme for new first year students at the Faculty of Engineering commence on Friday January 31.
2. Please note: Students who were allocated residence placement or those who will stay privately, will receive information regarding move-in dates, welcoming, etc. directly from the residence or private resident owners. If you haven’t received such information, contact them directly or send an email to: info@sun.ac.za
3. We encourage you to regularly check at www.sun.ac.za/welcome for any updates to the welcoming programme.
4. All sessions will be in-person (face-2-face). It is expected of all new first years to attend all the welcoming sessions at the Faculty.

All BEng – students (excluding Extended Curriculum Programme – ECP) will be divided into 4 Class Groups:
– (1 x Afrikaans & 3 x English):
 * Students who indicated Afrikaans language preference for their classes will be in Group 1.
 * Students who indicated English as language preference will be divided into Groups 2 to 4 based on their surnames and specific degree programme option.

Full procedures will be explained when students assemble in front of the General Engineering Building.

* Students will receive information on the degree programme, the “big picture” on where this degree might take them, the focus for different year programmes, general support, facilities, etc.

* 10:15 All first-years who did not yet register online will gather in front of the Civil Engineering Building. They will be accompanied to the registration venues by senior-students. First years who have already registered online may collect their student cards at the Neelsie Student Centre.

Alle eerstejaars, wie nie reeds aanlyn geregistreer het nie ontmoet voor die Siviele Ingenieursgebou. Eerstejaars sal deur senior-studente na die registrasielokale vergesel word. Studente wie reeds aanlyn geregistreer het kan hul studentekaart afhaal in die Neelsie Studentesentrum.
